5 Tips to Sleep Better

Bed time is a time that most of us look forward to. However for some of us, it can be difficult to get a good nights sleep. We've put together 7 handy tips that we use ourselves and we hope it helps you get a better nights sleep!

#1 - Include physical activity as part of your daily routine.
Those who exercise more, tend to sleep better. Not only do you tend to have better circulation but if you exercise early in the day you tend to feel more tired at night. Try not to exercise too late in the night or your body may be too excited to sleep.

#2 - Limit Day Time Naps
The day time nap always feels great however limiting the amount and length of a naps you take to help you sleep soundly at night. If you suffer from insomnia or a poor sleep quality, then pay close attention to this.

#3 - Get Comfortable!

This is really our favourite tip as its so important to feel comfortable before you fall asleep.
Having the proper mattress will help your get comfortable. Having the right elevation before bed time can also affect how you sleep. The right pillow is also crucial to sleeping better. If you use a CPAP machine, then a CPAP Pillow is vital to a good nights sleep.

#4 - Manage Stress
A stressful day usually gives us trouble sleeping at night. We either lay awake in bed thinking about our day or toss and turns trying to forget the days worries. Stress refeif tends to translate into physical pain or stress and a TENS system can sometimes help. Otherwise, try sharing a laugh with an old friend before going to bed at night or reading a good book to get your mind off thins.

#5 - Consider Sleep Aids
When counting sheep doesn't work (has it ever?) there are many sleep aids out there that can give you a better nights sleep. Popular aids like Sleep-ON, or Melatonin have been proven to work well. There are other remedies such as relaxation teas, or soothing music that can also help.
Most important is knowing if you have a real problem sleeping and knowing when to contact your doctor. Make sure you talk about your sleep issues with your loved ones so they also know what you are going through.

Do you have some tips that work well for you? Please feel free to leave a comment and share those tips with us and other readers!
